Public safety has been my No 1 priority - and remains a key focus.

 

Twelve years ago, the coast had around 40 safety cameras spread across our city.

 

Today, it is more than 750.

 

I have worked hard to ensure community safety has been boosted through:

• high-tech safety cameras;

• better park lighting;

• information sharing with Queensland Police;

• establishing my Mayoral Safer Suburbs Forum;

• rapid action graffiti clean-up crews;

• Anti hoon cameras;

• increased funding for Animal Management teams; and

• City Safety Audits of public spaces.

 

I have more ideas on how to better improve safety, especially in the suburbs. Protecting and preserving the Gold Coast lifestyle is vital. Don’t risk handing over to someone with no experience.
